Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data FlipStack ("we", "the App") collects, why, and what we do with it. We try to keep this short and plain. If something here is unclear, email promtflow.business@gmail.com and we'll try to clarify.
1. What we collect
- Photos you scan. When you take a photo to identify an item, the photo is compressed and sent to OpenAI's API through our server proxy. It is used only to produce the item identification and price estimate you see, and is not stored on our servers after the response is returned. Full-size photos are never stored — only a compressed thumbnail may be saved locally on your device for your scan history.
- Item names and barcodes you enter. Same as above — sent to OpenAI to produce a result, not retained server-side.
- Scan history and listing drafts. Your past scans and any listing drafts you save are stored locally on your device or browser (localStorage). This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly share it. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app will remove this local data.
- Scan thumbnails. Compressed thumbnail images (small preview photos) may be stored locally on your device as part of your scan history. These are never uploaded to our servers.
- Anonymous device identifier. A random ID generated in your browser/device and stored locally so we can attribute your subscription to the correct device. You cannot be personally identified from this ID.
- Subscription state: which plan you're on, when it was activated, and when it expires. Provided by RevenueCat (our billing partner) in response to a purchase event.
- Usage analytics (if enabled): page views, feature usage, scan counts. Used to understand how the App is used so we can improve it. Analytics are anonymous — we do not collect or sell personally identifiable information for advertising.
- Top Finds contributions (optional, on by default). When you complete a scan with a high-estimate value over $20, the App contributes the item name, high price, and category — but not your identifier, photo, or any other detail — to a shared "Top Finds this week" feed visible to other users. You can opt out anytime in Settings → Community.
- Listing photos uploaded for direct posting (opt-in). If you tap "Post directly to eBay" or "Make listing photo," the scan photo is uploaded to our Vercel Blob storage so the marketplace (eBay) or AI background-cleanup service can access the image via a public URL. We retain these images for delivery purposes; you can request deletion at any time via the contact email below.
- Referral codes. Each user is assigned a deterministic 6-character referral code derived from their anonymous device identifier. The code is stored on our servers (Upstash KV) so other users can redeem it for bonus scans. Redemptions and bonus balances are tracked anonymously against the device identifier.
2. What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your physical location.
- We do not collect contacts, calendar, microphone audio, or browsing history outside the App.
- We do not access photos beyond the ones you explicitly choose to scan.
- We do not see, store, or process your payment card details. Card information is handled entirely by Stripe (via RevenueCat) — we receive only a confirmation that a subscription was paid.
3. AI processing and third-party AI service
When you scan or upload an item photo, FlipStack sends the image and any item details you provide to OpenAI so the app can identify the item, estimate resale value, recommend a selling platform, and generate listing text. The photo is transmitted over an encrypted connection through our server proxy. It is used solely to produce the result you see in the app and is not stored on our servers after the response is returned.
- What is sent to OpenAI: a compressed version of the photo you choose to scan and, where applicable, a text description or barcode you enter.
- Why it is sent: to power the item identification, price estimate, platform recommendation, and listing draft features that are the core function of the app.
- What is not sent: your name, email address, device ID, or any other personal identifier — only the image and item details you explicitly choose to scan.
- Advertising: We do not use your photos or scan data to sell advertising, and we do not share your data with advertising networks or data brokers.
- Tracking: FlipStack does not track you across other apps or websites. Collected data is used for app functionality, analytics, and account management only — not for third-party advertising or data broker purposes.
You will be asked to consent to AI analysis before your first scan. Do not upload photos that contain people, private documents, addresses, payment cards, or other sensitive personal information.
4. Third-party services
FlipStack relies on a small number of third-party services to function. By using the App you also agree to their respective privacy policies:
- OpenAI — processes scan photos to identify items.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription state across platforms.
- Stripe — processes web subscription payments.
- Vercel — hosts the App and its API.
- eBay — when live comparable-listings pricing is enabled, we query the eBay Browse API. No personal data is sent to eBay; only the search term derived from the item you scanned.
- PostHog — when analytics are enabled, anonymous usage events.
- Replicate — runs the AI background-cleanup model when you tap "Make listing photo." The scan photo is sent for processing and the cleaned result is returned; Replicate's retention policy is 24 hours for prediction inputs and outputs.
- Vercel Blob (part of Vercel above) — hosts listing photos and cleaned-background photos at public URLs for marketplace delivery. Photos are retained until you request deletion.
5. Price estimates and marketplace posting
Price estimates shown in the App are based on AI analysis and publicly available comparable listing data. They are suggestions only — not guarantees of what an item will sell for. Actual sale prices vary based on condition, demand, timing, and platform.
FlipStack generates listing copy (titles, descriptions, and draft listings) that you can copy and paste into any marketplace yourself. If you choose to connect an eBay account through Settings and direct-post a listing, the App acts on your explicit per-listing instruction to send the item details and photo URL to eBay's Sell API; we do not list anything on your behalf otherwise. We do not access your other marketplace accounts.
6. Data retention
Photos sent to OpenAI for the scan flow are not retained server-side after the AI response is returned. Scan history and listing drafts are stored only in your browser or device's local storage and are retained until you delete them, clear your local data, or uninstall the app. Subscription records are retained for the lifetime of the subscription plus a small period afterward for accounting and refund purposes.
Photos uploaded for direct posting or background cleanup are retained in our Vercel Blob storage so the resulting listing or cleaned image remains accessible. Top Finds contributions are retained for 7 days in a rolling shared list and are automatically pruned after that window. Referral codes and bonus balances are retained as long as your device is active.
7. Your rights
You can request a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing promtflow.business@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU/UK or California, you have additional rights under the GDPR / CCPA respectively — including the right to portability, correction, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children
FlipStack is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify users in-app or by email.
